The head of the “Baalbek-Hermel Bloc,” Representative Hussein Haj Hassan, called on the political authority to exploit what he described as “the available opportunity” to conduct a comprehensive review and correct what he considered to be mistakes committed against the resistance and its environment, as well as against the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that such a correction is in the interest of Lebanon, its stability, and its national unity.
Hajj Hassan’s positions came during the Central Ashura Council, which Hezbollah celebrates at the shrine of Sayyida Khawla in the city of Baalbek, where he stressed that addressing the controversial issues must start from a comprehensive national vision, far from any sectarian considerations or narrow political interests.
He considered that correcting these paths does not aim to achieve gains for a specific group, but rather falls within the framework of strengthening internal stability and consolidating national unity at a delicate stage that Lebanon and the region are going through, in light of the accumulated security, political and economic challenges.
Hajj Hassan criticized what he described as “flattery towards the Americans” by some officials during the past 15 months, considering that they responded to external pressure at a time when southern Lebanon was paying heavy prices as a result of confrontations and escalation, through the fall of martyrs and wounded, and the exposure of homes and infrastructure to widespread damage and destruction.
He stressed that the bet will remain on Lebanese national unity and on the continuation of Iranian support, considering that this constitutes an essential factor in confronting those who, as he put it, are working to disrupt the country’s interests and prevent reaching a ceasefire.
