In a step aimed at supporting the health sector and ensuring continued hospital coverage for those insured, the National Social Security Fund announced the payment of new financial advances to hospitals and doctors contracting with it, with a total value of approximately 154 billion Lebanese pounds.
The Fund’s Public Relations Directorate explained, in a statement, that Director General Muhammad Karaki issued on August 31, 2026, three decisions bearing the numbers 470, 471, and 472, ruling that these advances be paid for 2,458 hospital treatments, covering the expenses of insured persons who received treatment on the security account.
With this payment, the total hospital advances paid by the Fund since the beginning of the year rise to about 4,238 billion liras, equivalent to approximately 47 million US dollars.
The Directorate confirmed that the Fund continues to pay advances to hospitals and doctors on an almost weekly basis, explaining that they constitute coverage for the hospital bills of insured patients.
In the background of the step, she indicated that the regularity of payments, in addition to the continuous amendment of medical, drug and hospital tariffs and the introduction of new medical procedures, contributed to the insured persons regaining their confidence in the guarantee and raising their rate of benefit from health services, after their visits had been limited for a period to critical cases.
Karaki called on hospitals to expedite the completion of their transactions and submit them to the Fund, allowing them to be processed and paid as quickly as possible, preserving the balance and financial solvency of the hospital sector and ensuring appropriate health coverage for insured patients.
He also stressed the need for hospitals to adhere to the tariffs approved by the Fund’s management, warning that deterrent punitive measures would be taken against violators.
