A member of the Iranian negotiating delegation, Qurban Zadeh, confirmed that stopping the war in Lebanon is a prerequisite for continuing the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington, noting that this file is a top priority for the Iranian side during the current meetings.

Zadeh said that the implementation of Article Thirteen of the Memorandum of Understanding forms the focus of current discussions, as it paves the way for consideration of five main files, including ending wars on various fronts, lifting the blockade, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, granting temporary exemptions from oil sanctions, and releasing frozen Iranian assets.

He explained that Iranian Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf stressed during the discussions that the Lebanese file is the most urgent issue, stressing that any progress in other files will remain linked to finding a solution to this issue.

He added that experts from various parties continue to discuss other items in parallel meetings, including the executive arrangements for the release of frozen Iranian assets in coordination with the Qatari side.

Regarding the economic aspect, Zadeh revealed that the draft final decision related to temporary exemptions from sanctions imposed on oil exports and its derivatives is ready, and is expected to be issued soon.

These statements come at a time when the US-Iranian negotiations in Switzerland are witnessing cautious progress, amid discrepancies that emerged during the first round, especially after the Iranian delegation left the headquarters of the talks in protest against threats made by US President Donald Trump, while Tehran confirms that the Lebanese file has become at the forefront of its conditions for completing the negotiating path.
