The head of the Nurses Syndicate in Lebanon, Abeer Al-Kurdi Alama, confirmed during her participation in the “315 Meetings” program that the nursing sector is suffering from severe exhaustion and a continuous loss of nursing staff. She pointed out that the health situation in Lebanon is facing major challenges and accumulated problems that have negatively affected the quality of services.

She also discussed Law No. 221 issued in July 2021, which regulates the nursing profession and the mechanism for practicing it. She explained that this law clearly defines the categories of nursing, which contributes to organizing work within the sector. She pointed to the importance of the implementing decrees that came to detail the provisions of the law and facilitate its implementation.

She stressed that implementing these laws contributes to protecting the profession and raising its professional level.

In a related context, she touched on the reality of home nursing care between the present and the future and revealed the existence of a law proposal in this regard that is still being followed up in the relevant committees and stressed the importance of regulating this sector to ensure the quality of care provided in homes.

She concluded by calling on families to contact the union to ensure that nurses are qualified to provide home care.
