Hezbollah issued a statement in which it attacked what it described as the continued Israeli escalation in Lebanon, considering that the raids, bombing, destruction and systematic bombing of homes and villages, and the accompanying erasure of their landmarks and the destruction of the necessities of life in them, continue without deterrence and under pretexts that it describes as flimsy.
The party said that the Israeli operations that took place yesterday led to the death of 4 people and the injury of dozens of others, in light of what it described as “absolute international silence and American complicity,” accusing the Lebanese authority of failing to shoulder its responsibilities and continuing with choices it considered wrong, condescending, and capitulating.
He believed that, according to the statement, the “framework” within which the Authority was operating had only led to the perpetuation of the occupation and the continuation of Israeli operations against the Lebanese.
The party considered that the ongoing Israeli escalation was taking place, as it put it, with complete American partnership, cover and planning, and that its goal was to pressure the Lebanese authority and blackmail it to push it to implement known agendas, even if the price was to plunge Lebanon into internal strife.
He said that the continuation of the authority on this path, which he described as absurd, illegitimate and unconstitutional, gives Israel more time to continue its operations, achieve its goals, and impose its conditions and dictates on Lebanon.
He added that the authority’s claims that direct negotiations and the framework agreement with Israel achieve achievements are dissipating, according to the statement, with the continuation of the occupation and operations, the fall of the Lebanese, and the destruction and bombings.
The party stressed that the release of some Lebanese prisoners, despite its importance, cannot constitute a cover to condone the continuation of the occupation and escalation, nor a justification for continuing a path that it said has proven its failure and inability to protect Lebanon and its people, noting that the authority had previously confirmed that it would not go to any negotiating path before stopping Israeli operations.
The party called on the authority to reconsider its calculations, stop being arrogant, put aside stubbornness and bickering, and return to what it described as the comprehensive national constants that protect Lebanon’s sovereignty.
He also called on all Lebanese to stand together behind a unified national position that, according to the statement, preserves Lebanon’s strength, resilience and sovereignty in the face of Israeli escalation.
