The Educational Office of the Free Patriotic Movement issued a statement strongly condemning the attack that targeted the Rafik Hariri University City affiliated with the Lebanese University in the Hadath area. The office considered that this action represents a blatant attack on a prestigious scientific and academic institution, and directly targets the education community in Lebanon.

The Educational Office expressed its strong condemnation of what it described as the continued fall of teachers, professors, and students as victims of this tragic war, stressing that this constitutes a human tragedy that affects the essence of the educational sector and represents a blatant violation of the basic human rights to life, education, and security.

The statement explained that the bombing that targeted the Rafik Hariri University City in the Hadath area affected a scientific and cultural edifice that is considered one of the most important educational institutions in Lebanon, noting that this attack resulted in the martyrdom of a number of university professors.

The Educational Office stressed that targeting educational institutions or exposing their workers and students to the dangers of war is a serious violation of international laws that guarantee the protection of civilians, stressing the importance of preserving the sanctity of schools and universities as they are safe places to spread knowledge and build the future.

The statement also expressed deep sadness and sorrow for the loss of victims from the education community, and offered its deepest condolences to the presidency of the Lebanese University and its academic and administrative members, as well as to the families of the martyrs, their colleagues and their students.

At the conclusion of the statement, the Educational Office of the Free Patriotic Movement called for active participation in “a solidarity stand in front of the central administration building of the Lebanese University, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026,” in order to emphasize full solidarity with the education community in this difficult time.
