The Ministry of Labor in Sidon took action following a complaint received against the owner of a restaurant, related to violations in the employment of foreign workers, before the field inspection revealed the existence of several violations that required the preparation of control reports and referring them to the competent legal authority.
In detail, the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Labor in the South Lebanon Governorate, Inspector Zeina Farhat, followed up on the complaint that the restaurant owner employed Ethiopian workers in violation of the terms of the declared employment contracts.
The complaint also showed that there were two Syrian workers working inside the restaurant without obtaining legal work permits.
After field examination and investigation into the content of the complaint, the data proved that the restaurant owner had committed several violations, which prompted the Ministry of Labor to organize arrest reports against him and refer them to the competent legal authority to take appropriate measures.
This move comes within the framework of the Ministry of Labor’s ongoing work to protect the rights of Lebanese and foreign workers, regulate the use of foreign labor, and ensure that establishment owners adhere to the terms of contracts and legal work permits.
