Private generator bills are no longer just an additional burden on citizens, but in some cases they have turned into a harsh bill that drains what remains in the pockets of the Lebanese, amid a clear inability to put an end to the greed of some generator owners.
In this context, the mayor of Hazmieh, Jean Al-Asmar, issued a loud cry, calling on the Ministry of Economy, the Judiciary, and the relevant security agencies to take urgent and effective action, after the bills of some generator owners for this month, according to what he said, were illogical and citizens could not afford them in light of the stifling living conditions.
Al-Asmar stressed that time no longer allows for people’s suffering to be ignored, calling on the Chairman of the Parliamentary Economics Committee, Representative Farid Bustani, to complete the work to issue implementing decrees for the law, which he contributed to approving with a number of his colleagues, with the aim of controlling and organizing the private generators sector.
Al-Asmar concluded by stressing that the Hazmieh municipality will be at the forefront of the confrontation, because protecting citizens can no longer tolerate postponement or compromises with the greed of some.
