Successive field developments were recorded in a number of towns in the south, amid artillery shelling and machine-gun sweeping, in conjunction with the detection of a strange object in the airspace of the Zawtar region.
According to field information, an air parachute was spotted flying in the sky of Zawtar and its surroundings, but its nature or the object it was carrying was not initially clear.
After follow-up, the information suggested that the strange object was loaded with explosive materials, and that it fell into the river in the town of Zawtar, while additional details regarding its nature have not yet become clear.
In parallel, a “Merkava” tank fired artillery shells towards the eastern outskirts of Zawtar from the Mifdoun side, causing fires to break out in the area, according to what a circulating video clip showed.
Artillery shelling also targeted Doha Kafr Rumman, while a sweep with machine guns was recorded towards the town of Bani Hayyan.
A similar combing operation with machine guns took place in the town of Al-Tiri in the Bint Jbeil district.
