Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, raised the level of preparedness for the winter season, stressing the necessity of adopting proactive treatment of critical points and ensuring full field readiness before the rains begin.
In this context, Rasamny held an expanded meeting with the ministry’s contractors, in the presence of officials and stakeholders, as part of the early preparations for the winter season and raising the level of preparedness on various Lebanese territories.
The meeting discussed a plan to clean and rehabilitate roads, canals, sewers, and rainwater drains, and ensure their readiness before the start of the season, which contributes to reducing the risks of water accumulation, floods, and road disruption.
Rasamny listened to the contractors’ demands and comments regarding the progress of work and the problems they face, in addition to the files that need to be followed up and accelerated within the legal and administrative frameworks, in order to facilitate the implementation of the work and ensure the continuation of the required maintenance and readiness.
Rasamny gave directives to the concerned departments and contractors on the need to expedite the implementation of the work, ensure full field readiness of the teams and mechanisms, and enhance coordination with the regional directorates, allowing rapid intervention to address any emergency or problem on the ground.
He stressed “adopting proactive treatment of sites and critical points that may witness problems during the winter season, and completing their cleaning and maintenance work before the rain falls, which contributes to reducing damage, ensuring the safety of citizens, and maintaining the continuity of traffic on the roads.”
In the context of his meetings, Rasamny met with MP Nadim Gemayel, in the presence of a delegation from the Fishermen’s Syndicate, where the conditions of fishermen, their demands, and files related to the marine fishing sector were discussed.
He also discussed regional development affairs with MP Raed Berro, met with a delegation from the municipality of Ebel al-Saqi, and discussed with them the service and development conditions that the ministry is concerned with.
In the evening, Rasamny received in his office the mayor of Dbayeh – Zouk Al Kharab – Awkar – Haret Al Balana, Engineer Nabih Tohme, accompanied by a delegation from the municipality, and a number of development and service files were discussed, especially those related to infrastructure and roads in the region.
