“Lebanon Debate”
Following his meeting with President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, Catholicos Patriarch of the House of Cilicia stressed to the Armenian Catholic Patriarch Raphael Bedros XXI Minassian, “the importance of solidarity and support in these difficult days that the Lebanese family is going through.”
Minassian said, “Assumption of national responsibility is required of all members of the Lebanese family,” stressing that “the Armenian Catholic community sees it as its duty to express its love for Lebanon and its willingness to serve society and the nation.”
He explained, “The visit was an opportunity to thank President Aoun for his efforts and his national message,” calling on all institutions to “continue the path together in order to achieve peace.”
He added, “Lebanon is our country, our home, and our family, and we hope that it will enjoy goodness, peace, and coexistence.”
In response to a question about his message to the parties that still oppose the path led by the President of the Republic, Minassian said, “The only message is for each of us to return to his conscience, and view the homeland as the home of his family.”
He concluded, “Then everyone will come together with one will and one goal, which must be to love the country, work for its future, and achieve public peace.”
