The spread of stray dogs in Dhour Al-Minya has become a growing source of concern for the people, after a child was attacked, which resulted in him being seriously injured in the face and requiring his transfer to the hospital, in an incident that reiterated the need to address this phenomenon in a way that protects the population and at the same time takes into account animal welfare standards.
A reporter reported that a stray dog suddenly attacked the child in the Dhour El-Miniya area, resulting in facial injuries.
Immediately, the child was transferred to Tripoli Governmental Hospital in Al-Qubba, where he received the necessary first aid and treatment, while his condition remained under medical follow-up.
The incident raised concerns among the families, especially in light of the presence of groups of stray dogs near residential neighborhoods and places where children move, which requires organized intervention from the competent authorities instead of letting the problem worsen.
The people called on the municipalities and concerned authorities to develop a serious and sustainable treatment for the phenomenon, by collecting stray dogs in a safe and humane manner, subjecting them to sterilization, vaccination, and veterinary care, and providing suitable centers or places to house them, especially dogs that are sick or display aggressive behavior.
Addressing the problem remains a shared responsibility that requires protecting public safety without resorting to killing, poisoning or harming animals, by adopting scientific programs to reduce the proliferation of stray dogs and monitor their health status, in a way that preserves the safety of the people and at the same time takes into account the rights of animals and the standards of their welfare.
