The Hajj and Umrah Affairs Authority announced Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s approval to organize Umrah trips by land, in a step aimed at enhancing the safety of Lebanese pilgrims and facilitating their movement during the rituals.
The authority explained, in a statement, that the approval came based on the proposal of its president, Judge Muhammad Al-Makawi, noting that organizing land trips would provide greater protection for pilgrims and enhance safety conditions during trips.
She pointed out that the step comes on the eve of the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday, and brings, in her words, “good news for the Lebanese pilgrims,” while ensuring the best conditions for performing Umrah rituals.
On the occasion, Al-Makkawi congratulated the Lebanese in general and Muslims in particular, asking God to bring back the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday to Lebanon and the Islamic nation with goodness, prosperity and blessings.
