The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received this evening at Baabda Palace the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, where the general situation in Lebanon was presented, especially developments in the south, in addition to regional developments.
During the meeting, Aoun asked the Norwegian Foreign Minister to work with the rest of the European countries to help Lebanon achieve the goals set by the Lebanese government to advance, consolidate security and stability, and bring peace to Lebanon and the region.
Aoun also thanked Norway for its continued interest in Lebanon and its standing by its just causes in international forums.
For his part, Eddy affirmed that his country stands by Lebanon in the choices it makes, stressing the need to respect its sovereignty, security and stability, and stressing that Norway will continue to provide humanitarian aid to the Lebanese.
The meeting comes at a time when the south is witnessing continuous field escalation, with the continuation of Israeli attacks, raids, incursions, bombings and bombings in a number of towns, in conjunction with international movements to reduce tension and stabilize stability.
It also coincides with the continuation of diplomatic efforts related to implementing Resolution 1701, stopping violations, and securing conditions that allow the return of stability to the border region and the return of people to their towns.
