Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, discussed with a delegation from the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport ways to enhance cooperation between Lebanon and Syria in the fields of transport and civil aviation, in addition to a number of joint files related to air navigation, air traffic, and related services.

Rasamny received in his office the head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport in Syria, Omar Hisham Al-Husri, at the head of a delegation that included officials concerned with planning, operation, aviation security and safety, air navigation and international cooperation, in the presence of the head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation, Captain Muhammad Abdel Aziz Aziz, and a number of stakeholders in the aviation sector.

The meeting discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation in the transport and civil aviation sectors, in addition to discussing developments related to air traffic crossing Lebanese and Syrian airspace and coordination mechanisms to achieve the best results in this field.

During the meeting, Rasamny presented the most prominent projects that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport is working on, pointing to the project to develop the border crossings, especially the modernization of the Masnaa crossing, in addition to other strategic projects, including the project to link the port of Tripoli to the Al-Aboudi area via railway.

The Minister stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two sides, pointing out that there are a number of agreements under discussion related to air navigation, land transport, and other common files.

The research also touched on Martyr President Rene Moawad Airport – Klayaat, where its importance and the stages of its operational development were presented, in addition to discussing issues related to the movement of passengers through border crossings.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing communication and coordination between the relevant authorities in the two countries and following up on joint files in the fields of transport and civil aviation in a way that serves common interests.
