The Beirut Coordination Committee of the Future Movement expressed its deep concern about the unfortunate events that took place in the Aisha Bakkar area, which led to casualties and raised an atmosphere of tension and anxiety among the people.
In a statement, the coordination expressed its deep regret and sadness over what happened, offering its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
She called on all the people of the region to exercise the utmost levels of awareness and responsibility, to give priority to the language of reason and dialogue, and to stay away from everything that might incite tension or disrupt security and stability.
The Beirut Coordination Committee of the Future Movement affirmed its confidence in the competent security and judicial agencies to uncover the circumstances of what happened and take the necessary legal measures against anyone proven to be involved, in a way that ensures justice is achieved and the capital’s security and peace are preserved.
She stressed that Beirut was and will remain a city of coexistence and openness, stressing that the will of its people will not allow any incident to be turned into a cause for strife or division.
The coordination called on everyone to calm down, exercise restraint, and cooperate with the competent authorities, in order to preserve the security of the region and the safety of its people.
This statement comes in the wake of the security tension that witnessed in the Aisha Bakkar area, where a dispute turned into shooting that led to casualties, amid the intervention of the Lebanese army to impose a security cordon and arrest a number of the shooters, in an attempt to contain the situation and prevent the expansion of tension within the region.
Aisha Bakkar is considered one of the residential and lively areas in Beirut, which makes any security incident there a subject of widespread concern among the people and political and social actors, especially in light of the sensitivity of the internal situation and the need to protect the capital from any tensions that may affect its security and stability.
