In his first appearance after the assassination attempt that targeted him in the town of Qubai, the Secretary of the Democratic Gathering, MP Hadi Abu Al-Hassan, appeared in front of the public hall in the town, surrounded by a crowd of people from the region and members of the security forces, in a scene that carried broad messages of solidarity and a clear rejection of any attempt at intimidation or political and security targeting.
Abu Al-Hassan raised his hand during the vigil held at the site, indicating that he was adhering to his positions and continuing to perform his duties, following the incident that the town witnessed during a funeral, where a bomb was thrown at him without exploding, which prevented any casualties.
A number of Qubay’s sons and members of the security forces surrounded Abu Al-Hassan, in a move that reflected a popular rally around him, amid an atmosphere of denunciation of what happened, and calls to uncover the circumstances of the incident and hold those involved accountable.
In this context, the Information Commission of the Progressive Socialist Party issued a statement in which it confirmed that Abu Al-Hassan, while carrying out his social duty in the town of Qubay, was subjected to “an attack with a military weapon,” noting that he “succeeded in controlling the aggressor and neutralizing him before implementing his plan,” before he completed his social duty and left the place quietly after things returned to normal.
The statement added that “Al-Taqadudi” places this “artificial attempt at murder” in the custody of the judiciary and the security services, calling for revealing the true background behind it and dealing firmly with any security defect that threatens civil peace.
The party also stressed the need to be calm and deliberate, and to wait for the results of the ongoing official investigations to reveal the details and circumstances of the incident.
