“Lebanon Debate”

In light of the spring fluctuations, the weather in Lebanon continues to fluctuate between relative stability and rapid changes, as periods of cloudiness overlap with chances of local rain, especially in the interior and northeastern regions. These transitional climates reflect the nature of the current climatic phase, which often brings with it dense fog on the highlands and a noticeable difference in temperatures between the coast and the interior.

In this context, Mona Omar, head of the Estimates Branch at the Meteorological Authority, explained in an interview with “Lebanon Debate” that “the weather today, Wednesday, will be partly cloudy to partly cloudy, with fog forming on the highlands and a slight rise in temperatures on the mountains and inland.”

She added, “As of the afternoon, clouds are thickening in the interior regions, especially in the northeast of the country, where the atmosphere becomes ready for local rain that may be accompanied by lightning, thunder, and active winds.”

She continued, “Thursday’s weather will be partly cloudy, with rising temperatures, especially inland and on the mountains, in addition to the formation of local fog at the highlands.”

As for Friday, she indicated that “it will be partly cloudy to partly cloudy, with dense fog starting at low altitudes as a result of high humidity, with temperatures remaining within their seasonal rates, and the possibility of some local rain falling due to limited fluctuations.”

Regarding Saturday, she noted that “the weather will be partly cloudy with medium and high clouds, with temperatures rising, and fog continuing to form in the highlands.”

Regarding the normal average temperatures during the month of April, Omar indicated that they range in Beirut between 15 and 24 degrees, in Tripoli between 13 and 23 degrees, and in Zahle between 9 and 22 degrees.

It also indicated that the surface winds will be southwesterly, with speeds ranging between 10 and 35 kilometers per hour, while the humidity on the coast will range between 65 and 85 percent.
