As part of its effort to facilitate the movement of trade and strengthen control mechanisms, the Customs Directorate increased working hours at the Al-Masnaa border crossing between Lebanon and Syria, with the aim of accelerating the passage of trucks arriving into and departing from Lebanon, in conjunction with intensifying measures aimed at combating smuggling.
Pursuant to this decision, the crossing became operational daily from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., which gives companies working in the field of import and export a wider margin of time, and contributes to alleviating congestion at this vital crossing.
The Masnaa crossing is considered the main land crossing linking Lebanon to the Arab countries, and it has witnessed noticeable congestion recently, due to almost total reliance on it after the decline in the use of other land crossings linking Lebanon to Syria.
