Dangerous escalation: Israel targets dozens of sites in Beirut under the name "Lion roar"

The Israeli army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, stated that his forces have targeted more than 110 sites and headquarters belonging to Hezbollah since the start of the military operation called “The Lion’s Roar,” stressing that attacks are continuing against what he described as the party’s infrastructure in Beirut and southern Lebanon.

In a blog post on his account on the “X” platform, “Adraee” stated that the Israeli army “conducted several additional waves of raids yesterday targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut and southern Lebanon.”

He added that the raids targeted “additional headquarters in Beirut that were used by Hezbollah members to advance plans against the State of Israel and its citizens.”

Adraee explained that the Israeli army, “since the beginning of Operation Lion’s Roar, has been aggressively targeting Hezbollah’s headquarters and striking its command and control capabilities, in addition to its economic situation and weapons.”

Adraee also accused Hezbollah of placing its infrastructure “systematically within population centers and in civilian areas throughout Lebanon.”

He stressed that the Israeli army “is working forcefully against Hezbollah, which decided to join the battle and work under the patronage of the Iranian regime,” adding that the Israeli army “will not allow the citizens of the State of Israel and the residents of the north in particular to be harmed.”

These statements come in light of the escalation in the intensity of military operations between Israel and Hezbollah on the southern Lebanese front, where the region has witnessed an exchange of air and missile bombardment since the beginning of the recent confrontations.

During the past few days, Israel has intensified its air strikes on various areas in Lebanon, including the southern suburb of Beirut and a number of villages and towns in the south and the Bekaa.

On the other hand, Hezbollah announced that it had carried out operations targeting Israeli military sites and soldiers’ concentrations in northern Israel, as part of the ongoing clashes between the two parties.

Analysts believe that this increasing escalation reflects a noticeable field expansion, at a time when fears are increasing about the extension of military operations in Lebanon with the continuation of mutual bombardment.
