“Lebanon Debate”
The body of the martyr father, Pierre Al-Rahi, was received this morning before noon in the courtyard of Saint George Church in the town of Qalaia, where the funeral prayer was held after the Divine Mass, with the participation of the families who came forward to bid farewell to the priest, who left a deep sadness in their hearts.
Army Commander General Rudolph Heikal participated in the funeral ceremony, who arrived on a military helicopter to the town.
What was striking during the funeral was the situation that MP Elias Jarada faced while attending the condolence ceremony, as some of the town’s residents expelled him, against the backdrop of his positions in support of Hezbollah against Israel.
In his comment on what happened, MP Jarada confirmed in a call with “Lebanon Debate” that “these are not the people of Qalaia.”
It is clear that the people of Al-Qalaia are not like this. They are my loved ones and they love me. I do not know if there was someone who instigated this matter, but I confirm that they are not the people of Al-Qalaia. Perhaps it was an outburst of anger from some young men, and they expressed it in this way, and I was beside them, embracing them, using words from the Bible: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
Jarada added, addressing the people of Al-Qulaya and all regions of the south: “Remain steadfast in your land. We will remain in our land and this land is ours and we will not abandon it. Blessed are the makers of steadfastness. This land is sacred and it is ours.”
