Tlais: Syrian measures against Lebanese trucks are harming the transport sector and the economy

Bassam Tlais, head of the federations and syndicates of the land transport sector in Lebanon, issued a press statement in which he addressed the decision taken by the Syrian authorities regarding the measures imposed on Lebanese trucks, and the negative effects this decision causes on the land transport sector and the national economy with all its components, whether agricultural, industrial or commercial.

Tlais explained, “Three days have passed since the decision was issued without recording any positive step from the Syrian side, which led to an exacerbation of the damage to the transportation sector, and increased the suffering of drivers and owners of trucks and refrigerators.”

In this context, Tlais called on the relevant unions, in particular the foreign transport, refrigerator and transit unions, in addition to all affected parties, to “participate in a meeting and press conference to be held at two o’clock in the afternoon tomorrow, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, on the Lebanese-Syrian border in the Masnaa area, in order to announce the appropriate position and demand the Lebanese government to take the necessary measures that are in the public interest and protect the livelihood of thousands of families of public drivers and truck owners.” And refrigerators.”
