Bsat’s words came during his inspection of the modern port of Sidon, where he held a meeting with those concerned and listened to the most prominent challenges facing the port and ways to develop it, before touring its departments.
In his statement, Al-Bassat said: “Sidon has endured a lot during the recent period, absorbed our displaced people from various regions, and contributed to the steadfastness of the south, and this is a historic role for it. But on the other hand, it needs a clear economic vision, and the port constitutes one of its most important pillars, as it has promising opportunities within an integrated economic system, and we are committed to developing a new plan for the city, of which the port will be an essential and pivotal part.”
He stressed that the government will continue to support the south and work to secure basic services, stressing that reconstruction and the return of the displaced must be part of a comprehensive economic vision, and that Sidon represents the gateway to the south at this stage.
