Today, Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu renewed his threats against Iran, stressing that Israel is determined to continue working to overthrow the Iranian regime, and threatening Tehran with an “unimaginable” strike if it decides to attack Israel.
Netanyahu said, during an Israeli government session on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, that Israel aims “above all” to overthrow the Iranian regime, considering that the regime in Tehran is “weak, fighting for its life and floundering,” and that it is close to its end, as he put it.
He added that Israel has “another mission” to complete, referring to the overthrow of the Iranian regime, stressing his government’s determination to accomplish it.
Last Thursday, Netanyahu said that overthrowing the regime in Iran was “within reach,” considering that it had become weaker than ever since the outbreak of war on February 28 between Iran on the one hand and the United States and Israel on the other hand.
He also reiterated his position in a press interview on Wednesday, saying: “We will overthrow the regime in Iran, and it will fall. All of our agencies are working to overthrow the regime,” adding that any Iranian decision to attack Israel may be one of its “final decisions.”
In the same context, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz had threatened two days ago to target civilian infrastructure and the energy sector in Iran if Tehran launched an attack on Israel.
Netanyahu’s statements come in conjunction with a renewed escalation between Washington and Tehran, and at a time when the Israeli army on Sunday morning launched a surprise exercise at the level of the General Staff to test its readiness to deal with a sudden multi-front scenario.
