The Ministry of Agriculture announced that the building of the Nabatieh Agriculture Department was exposed this morning to severe damage that affected parts of the building and its surroundings, in addition to its contents, supplies and equipment, as a result of the attacks that took place in the area.
The Ministry explained, in a statement, that the initial inspection showed extensive damage to the building, furniture, fixtures, and equipment inside it, which directly affected the operational capacity of the department and the continuity of agricultural, extension, and veterinary services that it provides to farmers, livestock breeders, and the people of the region.
She pointed out that this is not the first time that the facility has been damaged, as it was previously damaged during 2024, while the current attack constitutes the second during 2026 and the third since 2024.
The Ministry stressed that the repeated damage to its facilities directly affects agricultural services in the affected areas, especially at a stage when farmers and livestock breeders need continued state services to help restore their production capabilities and re-energize the agricultural sector.
The Ministry of Agriculture condemned the damage to the Nabatieh Agriculture Department, noting that other agricultural facilities and installations were also damaged, including official agricultural schools, some of which were completely demolished, in addition to losses affecting lands, facilities, and production capabilities.
According to the Ministry’s estimates, the damage affected about 22.5% of agricultural land, warning of its repercussions on agricultural production, farmers’ livelihoods, and food security.
It confirmed that it will begin documenting the losses and conducting a comprehensive technical assessment of the damages, in preparation for taking possible measures to rehabilitate the facility and ensure the continuity of agricultural services in the region and not interrupt them for the beneficiaries.
This comes in light of the wave of Israeli escalation witnessed in Nabatieh and its surroundings today, which affected a number of buildings, installations and facilities inside and around the city.
