The Sheikhdom of Mind of the Unitarian Druze sect in Lebanon rejected any attempt to link the Druze to the State of Israel ideologically or politically, warning of the danger of extremist positions that affect the monotheistic Islamic identity and the historical constants of the sect, in conjunction with the continuing repercussions of the events in the Syrian province of Suwayda.

The Sheikhdom of Mind said, in a statement, “It is absolutely unacceptable to place the Druze monotheists in an artificial partnership with the State of Israel, and to say that they are an integral part of this state, and that they share the faith with it and are concerned with preserving it.”

She added, “The artificial deviation and escalating persistence hurt the Druze conscience and stab the established monotheistic Islamic identity, and constitute a coup against the authentic Arab history and cultural heritage.”

She stressed that the Druze monotheists “are an integral part of their Arab-Islamic environment, and belong by blood and belief to the Islamic monotheistic Doha,” stressing that they are “the first defenders of their homelands and believers in the spiritual and national partnership that is embodied in a strong, nurturing state protected by its people, thus being the protector of them all and the protective umbrella for their existence.”

The Sheikhdom of Mind believed that this speech, “whatever its motives, does not express the truth of the Druze monotheists, and comes outside the honorable historical context of the known sect.”

She called on sheikhs and officials in the sect and in Jabal al-Arab to educate their children and beware of these extremist and harmful positions, calling on everyone to adhere to the constants of faith and history and not underestimate the seriousness of the matter.

Regarding the events that took place in As-Suwayda, the sheikhdom affirmed that “Suwayda is precious to us and its wound still hurts us,” stressing the continued demand for fair accountability, imposing punishments on the perpetrators, and giving the governorate its due.

She added, “The blood of innocents is not honored, and the honor of one’s honor is only protected and maintained by reason, wise and courageous stances, not by coup stances and throwing oneself to destruction.”

She concluded her statement by calling for the protection of the Druze and their fellow citizens “from the fire of extremism, fanaticism and deviation,” and for the strengthening of the unity and stability of the mountain and the homeland.

The position of the Sheikhdom of Mind comes in light of the escalation of debate regarding the identity of the members of the Druze sect and their national and Arab position, in the wake of the developments in Suwayda and the calls and positions that accompanied them that sparked division and rejectionist reactions within the Druze religious and political circles.
