The Free Patriotic Movement confirmed that the entry into force of the agreement to end the US-Iranian war requires clarifying the mechanism and conditions for its implementation in Lebanon, demanding the establishment of a ceasefire, an end to Israeli attacks, the completion of the withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories, the recovery of prisoners, and the return of the displaced.

In a statement, the movement considered that the recent developments proved the correctness of the approach it has adopted since the outbreak of the war, which is based on rejecting two options at the same time: the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, and the decision-making and weapons remaining outside the Lebanese state.

He pointed out that events have proven once again that wars end in political and diplomatic paths, calling on the Lebanese to strengthen their state, get out of the game of external bets, and rally around a comprehensive national project.

He also affirmed his rejection of any attempt to exploit the war to achieve internal gains, stressing that the state alone must be the exclusive decision-maker in war and peace, negotiation and foreign policy, and that it alone must possess weapons designated to defend Lebanon, considering that the priority remains to protect Lebanon, fortify its unity, and restore its rights.

The movement rejected any proposal or threat that included assigning a security or military role inside Lebanese territory to any foreign country, including what was raised about the possibility of assigning the Syrian authorities to confront Hezbollah inside Lebanon.

The movement noted the position of Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, rejecting any military or political interference in Lebanon, stressing that Lebanon’s sovereignty, stability and security are the responsibility of the Lebanese state alone, and that any external interference in its internal affairs is rejected, regardless of its source or justification.
