In a new traffic accident that highlights the danger of some mountainous roads in Lebanon, the Chouf region witnessed an accident on the road to the junction of the two rivers, as a result of a large truck of the “Batoun Jablah” type deteriorating and overturning on the side of the road, which led to a state of traffic confusion in the region.

In details, information indicated that the truck lost control while crossing the road, which led to its deflection, deterioration, and overturn along the lane, without immediate information being recorded about any human casualties.

Despite the seriousness of the accident, it did not lead to a complete closure of the road, as it remained clear to traffic, with traffic slowing down as a result of the deteriorating truck on the side of the road.

The accident also caused quantities of oil to leak onto the road, which increased the possibility of slipping, which prompted the concerned authorities to warn of the need to be extremely careful while passing through the area, and to slow down to avoid any additional accidents.

The specialized treatment teams worked to monitor the situation at the scene, in preparation for reopening the road in a safer manner and removing the obstacles resulting from the accident.

The Two Rivers Junction Road is considered one of the vital roads in the Chouf region, and it witnesses active traffic, especially heavy trucks, which increases the level of accidents in the event of loss of control or the presence of emergency conditions on the road.

This incident comes in the context of a series of traffic accidents that repeatedly occur in various Lebanese regions, as a result of multiple factors, most notably the condition of the roads, excessive speed, and non-compliance with safety procedures, in addition to the movement of heavy trucks that increases pressure on the traffic infrastructure.
