In this context, Berri received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, where the meeting discussed developments in the general situation in Lebanon, and the latest political and field developments, in light of Israel’s continued violation of the ceasefire agreement and its continued attacks on Lebanon, especially in the south and the western Bekaa, in addition to the file of the displaced.
Berri also discussed with former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elie Ferzli the political developments and national affairs, where Ferzli confirmed after the meeting that “the unity of the Lebanese and civil peace is the real gateway that leads to achieving all national goals.”
He said: “We are living through a fateful ordeal, but President Berri looks to the future with great optimism, despite the roar of bullets, bombs, and the dangerous attacks that Lebanon is exposed to.”
Ferzli added that Berri considers that “the unity of the Lebanese and civil peace are the basis for achieving Lebanon’s full sovereignty, its complete independence, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon to the internationally recognized borders,” noting that “this national unity also constitutes a gateway to restoring constitutional life to normal.”
Ferzli concluded by emphasizing “the leadership and pioneering role played by President Berri, especially since the ceasefire was reached,” calling on the Lebanese to “help the leaders achieve the goal of unity and extending sovereignty over the entire national territory.”
The Speaker of Parliament also received the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Karim Saeed, where they discussed the general conditions, especially the financial and monetary conditions.
Berri also followed up on political and field developments in the afternoon, in addition to legislative affairs, during his meeting with the Secretary of the “Democratic Meeting” parliamentary bloc, Representative Hadi Abu Al-Hassan.
