Today, the “Qamar Bridge” border crossing in the Wadi Khaled area was opened to pedestrian traffic only, with the direct attention of the Director General of Public Security, Hassan Shuqair, as a first step within the partial operation of the crossing.
This measure comes in light of the incompleteness of the security and logistical equipment necessary to search cars from the Syrian side, which currently imposes the restriction of crossing on foot, until these requirements are completed.
The opening witnessed a popular presence from the people of the region, in addition to a number of mayors of the villages of Wadi Khaled, where they followed the progress of work and reviewed the initial arrangements approved to facilitate the movement of citizens.
It is expected that the full operation of the crossing for vehicular movement will remain linked to the completion of technical works and the availability of the necessary security systems on the Syrian side, ensuring the organization and control of traffic according to approved standards.
The opening of the crossing comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to regulate movement at the border crossings and enhance communication between the border areas, especially in light of the economic and living conditions that prompt many citizens to use these crossings on a daily basis, which requires phased measures to keep pace with the technical and security readiness of each side.
