Indonesia calls for a transparent investigation into the killing of a soldier from "UNIFIL" In southern Lebanon

In an important diplomatic move, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry called on the United Nations to launch a detailed investigation into the death of an Indonesian soldier who was part of the peacekeeping forces stationed in Lebanon.

The ministry’s official spokesperson stated that Indonesia “urges the United Nations to conduct a comprehensive, transparent and responsible investigation to establish the facts and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”

He also added that Jakarta offers its deepest condolences on the death of soldier Rico Pramodia, and indicated cooperation with UNIFIL to ensure the return of his body to the homeland as quickly and properly as possible.

He stressed that “various medical procedures were taken, but due to the severity of his injuries, he did not survive.”

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its denunciation of the Israeli strike that led to the soldier’s death, stressing that the security of the UN mission’s personnel is “non-negotiable,” and that the attacks on them represent a grave violation of international law “and may amount to war crimes.”

With Pramodia’s death, the number of Indonesian soldiers who died during UNIFIL missions in the last month reaches four.
