The “Lebanon Debate” correspondent reported that people smuggling operations through illegal crossings on the Lebanese-Syrian border are still being recorded, with monitoring of movements to smuggle Syrian citizens from the outskirts of the town of Bahlunieh in the western countryside of Homs, specifically in the vicinity of Talkalakh, towards Lebanese territory.
According to information, the crossing operations take illegal routes to the bank of the Grand River, opposite the Al-Khalisa and Al-Awainat areas in Akkar, at a border point used far from the official crossings.
Lebanon Debate obtained a video from the site of the smuggling operation, documenting the place where these illegal routes are used on the bank of the Grand River, in a scene that once again highlights the reality of the northern border and the loopholes exploited by crossing operations away from the official crossings.
These data re-shed light on the issue of illegal crossings on the Lebanese-Syrian border, in light of the difficulty of controlling the entire border line, and the accompanying security risks, especially with the continued attempts at crossing and smuggling away from official oversight.
