Member of the “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc, MP Hassan Ezz El-Din, launched a sharp attack on the political authority in Lebanon, considering that it has brought the country to a crisis reality as a result of its bets on the United States and the option of direct negotiations, stressing that the way out of the current crisis passes, according to his vision, through Iran and its role in any future regional settlement.

During a memorial celebration for Nassar Muhammad Awada in the town of Babliyah, Izz al-Din said that the authority bet on American support for it in confronting Israel, but this bet “was nothing but an illusion,” considering that the option of direct negotiations “fell and ended” and did not lead to the results that the authority was waiting for.

He believed that the failure of the “Framework Agreement” put the Authority before the consequences of its choices, and accused it of putting the country into a state of instability, at a time when, according to him, Israel is trying to cause internal strife. He went on to say that the performance of the authority made it lose its “credibility, eligibility and legitimacy” and the people’s confidence in it.

Ezz El-Din called on the authority to review its options and back away from what he described as its losing bets, considering that continued reliance on Washington isolates it from its people. He cited historical experiences, including the Shah of Iran, the Baghdad Pact, and Afghanistan, to indicate what he described as the failure of betting on the United States.

In the field file, Ezz El-Din acknowledged that restoring the level of deterrence that existed before 2023 “is not easy,” but he stressed that, according to him, the resistance is still working to prevent Israel from expanding and expanding.

He pointed out that the Islamabad understandings contributed, according to him, to reducing the targeting of leaders and cadres, considering that Israel is still continuing its operations in Lebanon. He added: “What is the way out? We want to be realistic.”

The way out is Iran.”

He described Iran as a “difficult number” and a major power at the regional level, considering that the Islamabad talks had a fundamental role in linking the Lebanese file to negotiations and a ceasefire.

He said that what is happening regionally may be related to the attempt to reach a political settlement that fulfills Iran’s demands and allows US President Donald Trump to employ them in the midterm elections, noting that the Iranian leadership and institutions have become more united around one path.

He added that Lebanon, according to the data he has, constitutes the first item in any possible understanding, considering that reaching an agreement could lead to an Israeli withdrawal and a cessation of operations and firing.

Ezz El-Din concluded with a call to look “with an eye of hope and optimism” at the next stage and to be patient, saying: “Victory is only the patience of an hour.”
