Wall Street fell yesterday, Friday, after US jobs data, which exceeded expectations, reinforced speculation about the possibility of the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) raising interest rates at the monetary policy meeting scheduled to be held this month.
The three major US indices closed lower amid a widespread selling wave ahead of the three-day weekend.
The August employment report issued by the Department of Labor showed that the US economy added 162,000 jobs last month, nearly three times the expectations of 56,000 jobs, while employment numbers for June and July were revised upward by 55,000 jobs.
