Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raji, received the new representative of the World Health Organization in Lebanon, Dr. Ahmed Zouiten, who handed him a copy of his credentials from the Lebanese state, in a meeting that discussed the conditions of the health sector and ways to enhance cooperation with the organization.
Raji welcomed Zoueten, wishing him success in his new duties, and stressing the historical and strong relations between Lebanon and the World Health Organization.
The meeting was an opportunity to review the organization’s general situation at the international level, in light of the challenges it faces as a result of the financial downturn, in addition to discussing the needs of the Lebanese health sector and mechanisms for expanding cooperation during the next stage.
For his part, Zouiten expressed his happiness at assuming his new duties, saying: “It is a great honor to be in a position that allows me to support the Lebanese people.”
Zouiten briefed Minister Raji briefly on the most important needs of the health sector in Lebanon, praising the efficiency of the medical body and the level of health services it provides despite the pressures and challenges.
He stressed that he will work to support these services and seek to expand their scope, allowing them to reach various segments of Lebanese society.
