The marine rescue unit in the port was able to rescue the young man, Muhammad Fawaz Al-Mahmoud, aged 18, after he got stuck under the bridge on Abdul Wahab Island while swimming, coinciding with the intensification of the wind speed.
Members of the unit reached the young man and worked to extract him and transport him safely to the beach, where he became in good condition.
The incident comes amid official warnings against swimming and marine activities due to the high waves and strong currents, and the danger they pose to the lives of citizens.
