Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem raised the ceiling of the political confrontation with the Lebanese authority, criticizing the course of the American negotiations and mediation, and considering that Lebanon did not obtain a ceasefire or an Israeli withdrawal, but rather made, in his words, concessions “from the bag of sovereignty,” calling for the search for a mediator other than the United States.
Qassem’s words came during a speech on the occasion of the birth of the Noble Prophet and his grandson, Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq, and the Islamic Unity Week, where he said, “The Lebanese authority has chosen a path that does not honor it, does not honor Lebanon, and does not honor the sacrifices of the Lebanese.”
He added: “You did not bring about a ceasefire and you did not bring about a withdrawal, but rather you gave up the right to sue,” considering that the consequences of this path “bind you because you give from the bag of others, you give from the bag of sovereignty.”
Qassem stressed that “those who resisted are innocent of these concessions and these results,” calling on officials to take a tougher stance, and said: “Say no for once. Try to show that you have something that will help you take something in the future.”
Qassem criticized the course of the negotiations, considering that “the negotiations take place under war and give legitimacy to the war and side with Israel.” He said that the authority was able to go to “indirect negotiations” and impose conditions during them.
He attacked American mediation, saying: “America is not honest, America is complicit with Israel,” calling for the search for an alternative, saying: “Go and search for a mediator other than the American mediator.”
At the same time, Qassem stressed that Hezbollah does not want war, and said: “We also do not want war, and the evidence is that we made an agreement on 11-27-2024.”
In the context of his talk about the confrontation with the United States and Israel, Qassem considered that “America is losing,” adding that “it is losing economically, it is losing culturally, it is losing through illusion, and it is losing as a symbol.”
He continued that the United States “no longer represents a model or a symbol,” considering that it is now viewed, in his words, as a “tyrannical, tyrannical, murderous, and criminal colonialist.” He also saw that it is losing “in terms of the economic situation and in view of the global reality.”
He touched on the situation inside Israel, calling for looking at “the migration that is taking place within the Israeli entity from outside it” and at the economic situation there.
Regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Qassem said that he “believes that he can do whatever he wants, but he has not been able to achieve his goals.”
He added that the Americans “were saying we want 5 days until the Islamic Republic of Iran falls in the second war.”
Qassem stressed that “the sacrifices were very great in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen and Iraq,” adding: “We sacrificed a lot and did not lose, for loss is when we surrender.”
He stressed that the opponents of the resistance “did not leave any opportunity for aggression, but they did not succeed and will not succeed,” adding: “They will not succeed with killing, they will not succeed with the economic blockade, and they will not succeed with all the propaganda they launch.”
He continued: “They will not succeed by pressing for surrender, nor by trying to displace, nor by trying to separate people from the resistance.”
