Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem confirmed that the region is going through a phase that he described as a “historic restructuring” of its image and the balance of power in it, warning that the United States is working to create the conditions for expanding control and the establishment of what he called “Greater Israel.”

Qasim’s words came during a speech on the occasion of the birth of the Noble Prophet and his grandson, Imam Jaafar al-Sadiq, and the Islamic Unity Week, where he said, “The region today is in the midst of a historical restructuring of its image and the balance of power in it, and we are witnessing extraordinary events.”

He added, “America is paving the way to increase control and create the necessary preliminaries for the establishment of Greater Israel.”

Qassem saw that the region is witnessing a confrontation between “two major trends,” and said: “There are clearly two major trends in our region, the American tyrannical arrogance trend and with it the cancerous gland, Israel.”

He added, “The other movement is the Islamic Republic movement, and with it the resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and throughout the region.”

Qasim accused the opponents of this axis of using various means in the confrontations, saying: “The enemies did not leave a criminal method without using it on all fronts, and they did not leave an act that involves the annihilation of humanity without using it.”

In his speech, Qassem recalled the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, saying: “Here we must remember with all glory and pride the master of the nation’s martyrs, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.”

He touched on Imam Sayyed Musa al-Sadr, noting that he paid southern Lebanon “exceptional attention,” and he used to say that “Lebanon cannot smile while its south is tormented and suffering.”

Qasim said that Imam al-Sadr “became aware early of the dangers of the Zionist entity,” and gave him the well-known slogan that “Israel is absolute evil,” considering that his personality had “religious, social, cultural, political, and humanitarian dimensions.”

He also recalled that Imam al-Sadr was kidnapped and disappeared with his two companions on August 31 from “the arena of his jihad.”

Regarding the file of Islamic unity, Qasim called on the Arab and Islamic countries and peoples to work for unity, saying: “We call on the Arab and Islamic countries in particular, and the Arab and Islamic peoples in particular, to work for unity.”
