The municipality of Haret Hreik called on all public and private schools within its jurisdiction to postpone the return of attendance and not to open their doors until further notice, in light of the ongoing Israeli military escalation and threats affecting several Lebanese regions.
In a statement, the municipality explained that the decision comes based on its responsibility to preserve the safety of students and educational and administrative bodies, noting that the unstable security conditions and rapid field developments require taking exceptional precautionary measures.
The municipality stressed that protecting students remains an absolute priority that cannot be neglected, calling on public and private school administrations to wait and not resume in-person classes until the security picture becomes clear and appropriate conditions are available that guarantee the safety of everyone.
She stressed that any educational institution that takes a unilateral decision to open its doors and receive students in these exceptional circumstances bears full responsibility for any risks or repercussions that may result from this decision.
