In light of the escalation of internal tensions, the head of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, Al-Amin Asaad Hardan, stressed that the unity of the Lebanese remains the “decisive response” in the face of projects of division and aggression, warning of the dangers of sectarian incitement and the role played by what he called “fifth columns” in destabilizing the situation.
Hardan expressed his concern about the escalation of incitement campaigns in various forms, considering that they serve agendas that are not in the interest of Lebanon, but rather threaten its unity. He said, “Anyone who deliberately incites sectarian and sectarian strife must be held accountable,” noting that some media outlets and communication platforms violate the laws and contribute to inciting the street.
He added that the party has repeatedly warned of the dangers of the “fifth column” that works to exploit sectarian divisions in fragmentation projects, calling for the launch of an inclusive national dialogue under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic, and holding those who reject the dialogue responsible for what the situation may lead to.
Hardan stressed that strengthening national unity and maintaining civil peace constitute a priority in confronting Israel, considering that any internal division allows achieving its goals.
In a related context, he pointed out that the continued discrepancy between the option of resistance and the option of negotiation “does not serve Lebanon’s interest,” calling for adopting a comprehensive national vision based on the constitution.
He concluded by emphasizing that national priorities must focus on stopping the aggression, Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory, liberating prisoners, and starting the reconstruction process, in addition to securing the return of the displaced to their villages.
