
Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed El-Hajjar, received at his office a high-level delegation from the United Nations, including: Deputy Special Coordinator of the United Nations in Lebanon, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Imran Riza, in addition to the regional directors of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the World Food Programme. The meeting was attended by a number of specialized officers.
During the meeting, Minister El-Hajjar discussed the plan developed by the Lebanese government to organize the return of Syrian displaced persons to their country, in addition to reviewing the work of the ministerial committee in charge of this file, the fruitful cooperation between international organizations and the General Directorate of General Security of Lebanon, as well as the continuous coordination between the Lebanese and Syrian governments in this regard.
For its part, the UN delegation expressed the readiness of its affiliated organizations to provide all forms of support and assistance necessary to make these efforts successful, praising the achievements made so far and the measures taken by the Lebanese government in this regard.
