Iranian Foreign Minister “Abbas Araghchi” arrived in Beirut, where he was received at the headquarters of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Immediately upon his arrival, he began a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart, “Youssef Rajji,” to discuss the latest developments in the region and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, as part of an official visit.
Later, President “Joseph Aoun” received Minister “Araghchi” at Baabda Palace, where he explained the purpose of the visit, which is to develop economic relations between Lebanon and Iran.
“Araghchi” also presented President “Aoun” with a brief overview of the results of his meetings held in Beirut over the past two days.
During the meeting, the Lebanese side affirmed its aspiration to build strong relations with Iran based on the strong ties between the two peoples, while emphasizing the importance of discussing the technical aspects related to this cooperation by the competent ministers.
In this context, the Iranian minister proposed the formation of joint committees of the ministers concerned to follow up on issues of common interest.
This visit comes within a series of diplomatic contacts that Beirut has witnessed recently, which included meetings with regional and international officials, in light of the Lebanese government’s efforts to expand the scope of its foreign relations and strengthen economic cooperation with various countries, in conjunction with the successive developments in the region.
