The media office at the Lebanese University presidency issued a statement on Friday evening, which stated: “Some media outlets, news websites, and social media pages have circulated allegations in recent hours about a (forged certificates scandal) attributed to the Lebanese University, based on a report recently presented by a television channel.”

The Lebanese University presidency affirmed its absolute denial of all allegations related to the issuance of any forged certificate from the university, clarifying the following to the public:

1- “Lebanese University certificates are not subject to equivalency at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, contrary to what was stated in the aforementioned media report.”

The statement added: “After a comprehensive and accurate review of all university records, no trace was found of the woman who claimed to have obtained a certificate from the Lebanese University.”

The statement continued: “The president of the Lebanese University clarified this matter directly on the air following the presentation of the report, confirming the invalidity of the claims and their fallacies.”

The statement pointed out that “the electronic system at the Lebanese University is fortified and has not been subjected to any hacking, as it relies on precise monitoring mechanisms that immediately reveal any illegal attempt to access it.”

The statement also clarified that “the report itself clearly indicated that the forged certificates were issued by a private university and were equated with the help of an employee in the Ministry of Education, so why was the issue distorted and false accusations directed at the national university?”

The University presidency affirmed: “The Lebanese University affirms its keenness on its reputation and the credibility of its certificates, which are recognized locally and internationally, and calls on everyone not to involve it in the game of narrow personal calculations, demanding that the media exercise accuracy and responsibility in addressing any issue that affects the national university edifice.”

The statement continued: “The university welcomes referring the file to the competent judiciary to reveal the full facts, and calls on the judiciary to take action against the defamation campaigns and falsification of facts that target the Lebanese University and attempt to undermine the reputation of more than four hundred thousand graduates who hold advanced positions in Lebanon and abroad.”

The statement concluded by emphasizing that “the Lebanese University will remain a national and unifying symbol, and its certificate will remain a reliable scientific reference that generations will be proud of, away from any calculation.”
