U.S. Secretary of State “Marco Rubio” affirmed on Friday the necessity that the international security force planned to be sent to Gaza consists of “countries that Israel feels comfortable with,” emphasizing the United States’ commitment to the “Gaza agreement” proposed by President “Donald Trump” for a ceasefire and reconstruction process.
In statements made from the Civilian-Military Coordination Center in “Kiryat Gat,” “Rubio” stated that “Several countries have expressed their willingness to participate, but the international security force in Gaza should only include countries that Israel feels comfortable with.”
“Rubio” added, “We will continue our commitments under the Gaza agreement, and we have made significant progress in this regard. Hamas will have no role in the future of Gaza,” emphasizing that the sector “will no longer be a source of threat to Israel.” He explained, “If Hamas violates the Gaza agreement, we will adopt other mechanisms to disarm it.”
The American minister also affirmed that the top priority at the moment is to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, pointing out that the plan presented by President “Trump” includes future stages that include disarming “Hamas,” deploying an international force to maintain security, in addition to launching a comprehensive operation to reconstruct the devastated sector.
In a separate context, “Rubio” commented on the Knesset’s vote in the preliminary reading on the annexation of the West Bank, noting that this step “embarrassed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” adding, “I do not think the annexation of the West Bank will actually happen.”
In conclusion of his statements, “Rubio” said, “We want peace in the region that does not threaten Israel’s security, and we will work to establish opportunities to achieve prosperity and stability in Gaza within a comprehensive approach that supports regional security.”
