Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir announced that the army entered a state of readiness for a surprise attack, in light of what he described as “a tense and flammable period on all fronts,” coinciding with the approaching holiday period.
Zamir’s words came during an assessment of the situation he conducted today, Sunday, with the participation of the General Staff Forum, within the framework of the General Staff’s surprise exercise “Dawn Rise 2.0,” which is taking place in parallel with operational events on various fronts.
According to what was published by Israeli army spokeswoman Ella Wawiyeh, the exercise was activated this morning against the backdrop of an assessment of the situation in preparation for the upcoming holiday period, and within the framework of drawing lessons from the events of October 7 and examining the extent of their application.
During the assessment, Zamir followed up on how the leaders and forces dealt with a sudden, multi-arena scenario, and the extent of the Israeli army’s readiness to confront a variety of operational scenarios.
“We are going through a tense and flammable period on all fronts,” Zamir said, adding that the army continues to learn lessons, and that “the basic state in which the entire army is in is readiness for a surprise attack.”
He explained that the exercise simulates a multi-arena war, and aims to examine the army’s readiness at all levels and frameworks, in addition to orders and the extent of their modernization, starting from the General Staff to field units.
He stressed that the exercise constitutes an essential part of the Israeli army’s preparations for the upcoming holiday period.
