The head of Egyptian General Intelligence, Hassan Rashad, traveled to Israel on Tuesday for an official visit. The visit aims to hold meetings with Israeli officials and US envoy Steve Witkoff to discuss ways to solidify the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and follow up on the implementation of the US peace proposal presented by President Donald Trump.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation stated that Rashad met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a number of senior security and political officials. During the meeting, Trump’s plan for post-war arrangements in Gaza was discussed, including mechanisms for delivering aid and ensuring continued calm.

For its part, Al-Qahera News Channel stated that the head of Egyptian intelligence will discuss with the Israeli side the obstacles facing the implementation of the American proposal, and ways to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip through the crossings.

The channel explained that Rashad will also meet with US envoy Steve Witkoff and officials from the US administration who are visiting Israel. This meeting comes within the framework of intensive diplomatic moves aimed at strengthening the ceasefire and consolidating humanitarian understandings.

In parallel with the field efforts, Cairo continues its diplomatic moves within the United Nations Security Council in order to issue an urgent resolution stipulating the establishment of a peacekeeping force in the Gaza Strip. This was revealed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aaty in an interview with The National newspaper.

Abdel-Aaty explained that the task of the international force will be to provide support to the Palestinians to manage their own affairs, stressing that “the management of Gaza by foreign parties is unacceptable.” He stressed that Cairo is “ready to participate in all forms, but within specific criteria and a clear mandate” issued by the Security Council.
