Between the fires raging on the ground and the continuous Israeli targeting from the air and borders, southern Lebanon faced a new day of escalation, during which the fires spread from Dermamas to the Marjayoun Plain, while Civil Defense members were forced to withdraw under fire, coinciding with an air strike that targeted the town of Mansouri.
The National News Agency representative reported that a civil defense team came under fire from the Israeli army while trying to put out the fire in Dermamas.
In detail, the civil defense team from the Qalaia Center, after obtaining approval from the “mechanics”, went to Dermamas to extinguish a fire that broke out this afternoon along the Litani River, under the Khardali Road, and extended all the way to the Marjayoun-Khardali Road.
While carrying out suppression operations, the Israeli army opened fire on members of the Civil Defense, without recording any casualties, which prompted the team to stop its mission and withdraw from the place in order to preserve the safety of its members.
This is not the first incident of its kind, as last night, the Israeli army fired 3 shells around a civil defense team while it was carrying out the ground cooling phase after putting out a fire, which also forced the elements to stop work and withdraw.
In a related field development, the National News Agency reported that the fire devoured the Marjayoun plain and extended to what is known as the airport road adjacent to the border, after the area was subjected to successive Israeli artillery shelling.
Active winds and the drying of grasses and wheat fields contributed to the acceleration of the spread of the fire and the expansion of its area, amidst dense plumes of smoke.
In the western sector, Israeli warplanes raided the town of Al-Mansouri, in a continuation of the escalation that the town and its surroundings witnessed during the past days, between Israeli raids, bombings and bombings.
This development comes within a wide field wave witnessed in the south, which in recent days included raids on Al-Mansouri and the surroundings of Tair Harfa and Majdal Zoun, in addition to artillery shelling, bombings, and Israeli military movements in a number of villages in the western and central sectors.
In parallel with the field escalation, the Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health announced that the total cumulative toll of the aggression, from March 2 to August 25, had risen to 4,350 martyrs and 12,310 wounded.
The spread of fires resulting from the bombing increases the difficulty of the work of fire brigades, especially in areas close to the border, where civil defense teams face direct field dangers that hinder their access to fire spots and prevent them from completing suppression and cooling operations.
