The work of preparing the water pumping station from the Bisri wells has been completed, making it ready to start pumping immediately upon completion of the pipeline linking the wells to the Bisaba reservoir, in a step aimed at enhancing water supply to the villages and towns of Iqlim al-Kharroub.
The station was handed over in the presence of MP Bilal Abdullah, the representative of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Engineer Muhammad Al-Hindawi, the representative of the Braidy Company, Engineer Salim Machaalani, and the mayor of Basaba, Engineer Jamal Al-Akoum.
Abdullah explained that the water will be pumped to the Basaba reservoir immediately after the completion of preparing the first two wells, with work to prepare the third well starting later. He praised the efforts that contributed to the completion of the project, and thanked the Council for Development and Reconstruction, the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Authority, the “Bridi” company, the municipality of Basaba, and all parties that participated in the implementation.
He pointed out that the project was launched at the initiative of former MP Muhammad Al-Hajjar, and was completed with the support of Taymour Jumblatt, and in cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Development. He also praised the contribution of Dar Al-Fatwa in securing the land necessary to establish the reservoir.
Abdullah confirmed that the project will provide additional quantities of water to Iqlim al-Kharroub, which has a high population density, pointing out that the production of each well is about 130 cubic meters per hour, which would alleviate a large part of the water crisis in the region.
For his part, Engineer Muhammad Al-Hindawi confirmed that the project was implemented according to the highest technical standards, and that the water will reach the villages and towns of the region as soon as the transmission line is completed.
In turn, the mayor of Bsaba, Jamal Al-Akoum, stressed that the town has provided the necessary land to establish reservoirs to serve the various towns of Iqlim Al-Kharroub, considering that the project constitutes an essential step to address the water crisis in the region.
