The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the targeting of a UNIFIL site in southern Lebanon, reiterating its complete rejection of any targeting of peacekeeping forces operating in the region.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom’s position rejecting the targeting of UNIFIL forces, demanding that all those who attack workers in the peacekeeping and relief fields be held accountable.

The Saudi position comes in light of the escalation of tension in southern Lebanon and the continued targeting of international sites and forces, which sparked international condemnations and positions that called for respecting the mission of UNIFIL and ensuring the safety of its members and workers in the humanitarian and relief fields.

The statement also gains additional importance in light of the continuing confrontations in the south, the increasing international calls to protect civilians and international workers, and to maintain calm in a way that ensures the implementation of the missions of peacekeeping forces without exposing them to danger.
