A call was received from the Israeli army to the Lebanese Civil Defense Center in Tyre, during which it was requested to inform the people of the town of Burj al-Shamali of the necessity of evacuating the town immediately and heading to safe areas, and staying away from the area south of Zahrani for their safety.
According to circulating data, the call came as part of an urgent warning directed to the residents of the town, amid escalating Israeli warnings in a number of areas of the south, coinciding with the continuation of military operations and field tension on more than one axis.
This development comes after a series of Israeli warnings that affected large areas in southern Lebanon, where the Israeli army called in previous statements on residents south of the Zahrani River to evacuate their homes and move to safer areas, in an indication of the widening scope of warnings and the possibility of expanding the circle of targeting.
Burj al-Shamali acquires special sensitivity due to its location in the Tyre district, within a southern region that has witnessed, for days, a gradual escalation in raids, warnings, and field movements. Hence, sending a direct evacuation request through Civil Defense raises the level of anxiety among residents, especially with increasing fears that the escalation will spread to additional areas.
In such cases, civil defense plays an essential role in conveying warnings and instructions related to public safety, especially when the warnings relate to populated areas that may be targeted. Communication through civil defense centers also constitutes an indication of the seriousness of the stage, in light of the need to regulate the movement of residents and prevent panic and random gatherings.
These warnings come in light of a tense field scene in the south, as Israel continues to expand its operations and raids, in parallel with repeated warnings to residents in southern towns and villages. This increases the humanitarian pressure on the people, who find themselves facing renewed waves of displacement amid difficult security conditions.
Between the call received to the Civil Defense Center in Tyre, and the expansion of the warnings south of Al-Zahrani, the south appears to be facing a more dangerous stage, as the warnings turn into part of the path of escalation, and the safety of civilians becomes the focus of attention and follow-up.
